Cloud Host Storm On Demand New West Coast Region Goes Live

February 1, 2012 — Cloud hosting provider Storm On Demand, the cloud hosting division of managed hosting firm Liquid Web announced on Wednesday that it now features two separate regions to offer geographic redundancy. Its existing region, located in Lansing, Michigan, is now joined by the new Phoenix, Arizona region, or US West, to offer customers a backup option and the ability to close easily between regions.

AWS Storage Gateway Connects On-Premise Appliances to the Cloud

January 25, 2012 — In a long post on the Amazon Web Services blog Wednesday, Amazon launched the AWS Storage Gateway service, a tool for connecting on-premise software appliances with its cloud storage services, making its cloud products more accessible to users currently dealing entirely (or mostly) with on-premise IT.

The Open Group Publishes Standards for SOA and Cloud Computing

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The Open Group , a global organization that work towards achieving business objectives through IT standards, announced this week it has published two new industry standards that let businesses effectively integrate fundamental elements of SOA and Cloud Computing into a solution or enterprise architecture. The new standards are SOA Reference Architecture, which acts as a blueprint for creating and evaluating SOA Solutions, and the Service-Oriented Cloud Computing Infrastructure Framework, which outlines the concepts and elements necessary for infrastructures to support SOA and Cloud initiatives.

Cloud Security Firm Gazzang Joins AWS Service Provider Program
