Cloud Host Storm On Demand New West Coast Region Goes Live

February 1, 2012 — Cloud hosting provider Storm On Demand, the cloud hosting division of managed hosting firm Liquid Web announced on Wednesday that it now features two separate regions to offer geographic redundancy. Its existing region, located in Lansing, Michigan, is now joined by the new Phoenix, Arizona region, or US West, to offer customers a backup option and the ability to close easily between regions.

CyrusOne Expands Interconnect Business, Names VP and GM of Interconnection

January 31, 2012 — Colocation provider CyrusOne announced on Tuesday it is entering the interconnect business on a broad scale, and to support this initiative the company has appointed Josh Snowhorn as vice president and general manager of interconnection. First Federal Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra Resigns

January 31, 2012 — The first federal chief technology officer, Aneesh Chopra, has resigned from his position, according to the White House on Friday. He becomes the second major federal technology executive to leave from the Obama administration, following last year’s departure of US chief information officer Vivek Kundra, who was recently Salesforce’s executive vice president of emerging markets.

NTT Communications Acquires 74 Percent of Indian Web Host Netmagic Solutions

January 25, 2012 — Japanese telecommunications provider NTT Communications announced on Wednesday that it has acquired a 74 percent stake in Indian data center services provider Netmagic Solutions. The acquisition is subject to the approval of authorities in India, according to the press release. NTT Com says the addition of Netmagic’s data center services and sites will expand its capability to provide cloud service to the Indian market
