Web Host SoftLayer Names GM for European Operations Announces Amsterdam Headquarters

October 13, 2011 – Web host SoftLayer announced on Thursday that it has selected Amsterdam for its European headquarters and first data center. According to the press release, SoftLayer is investing $75 million initially in Holland and its European operations, which includes new network PoPs in London and Frankfurt as well.

Spanish Web Host Arsys Contributes CloudBuilder to European Project Optimis

September 30, 2011 — Spanish web hosting provider Arsys announced on Friday that it has joined a European Commission project designed to help make the cloud more transparent. According to the press release, the project, dubbed Optimis, is a three-year, $14 million project that aims to develop a set of tools to improve interactions and transactions in cloud computing.
