January 25, 2012 — Cloud hosting firm FireHost announced on Wednesday that it has expanded into Europe and is offering its hosting services at data centers in London and Amsterdam. This news comes nearly two months after FireHost announced that it was looking to fill positions in its UK office.

Colocation Firm Interxion to Expand London Data Center Campus

November 2, 2011 — Interxion announced on Wednesday it is expanding its data center space and power capacity in its City of London campus. The move comes a couple months after Interxion announced it has reduced its LON 1 data center’s carbon footprint by signing up to 100 percent renewable energy from UK provider SmartestEnergy.

Dell Opens New Data Center in Slough UK

October 12, 2011 — Dell announced on Wednesday it has opened a new 5,000 square foot data center in Slough, United Kingdom, located just 22 miles west of London, according to a report by Data Center Knowledge. The new data center will support Dell’s IT outsourcing and cloud computing services across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

London Police Arrest Two Men Connected to Hacking Group Anonymous

September 2, 2011 — London Metropolitan Police announced on Friday that they have arrested two men in connection with the Anonymous hacker group. The men, aged 20 and 24, have been charged with conspiring to commit offences under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

Digital Realty Trust Acquires London Data Center for 21 Million

July 28, 2011 — Data center operator Digital Realty Trust announced it will be expanding its data center space in London, UK with a $21 million data center, according to a report by Data Center Knowledge. Though it did not disclose the exact location of the data center, it did say that the facility is 130,000 square feet, features 8 MW of power capacity and can support the development of five 1.44 MW data center PODs.
