January 6, 2012 — Carter Validus Mission Critical REIT announced on Thursday it has acquired a $94.75 million, multi-tenant, wholesale data center in downtown Atlanta. First announced in November, the buy comes a year after Carter Validus Mission Critical REIT began selling shares for a stock offering in an effort to raise between $200 million and $1.75 billion to acquire data centers and medical facilities.

January 12, 2012 — Email marketing platform MailChimp experienced an outage at one of its data centers on Monday, affecting about 400,000 customers. According to a post by founder and CEO Ben Chestnut on Tuesday, the issues stemmed from multiple hardware failures at its US1 data center.

Web Host OneNeck IT Services Completes SSAE 16 Audit for Arizona Data Centers

January 4, 2012 — Web hosting provider OneNeck IT Services announced on Wednesday that it has achieved compliance with SSAE 16 Type II in its Arizona data centers. SSAE 16 Type II compliance replaces the previous data center industry standard SAS 70, which OneNeck held for the last five years.

Data Center Firm Digital Realty Acquires San Francisco Atlanta Data Centers

January 4, 2012 — Data center firm Digital Realty announced on Wednesday that it has acquired a data center in San Francisco for $85 million, and a data center in Atlanta for $63 million. These acquisitions come on the heels of Digital Realty’s appointment of David Schirmacher senior vice president of technical operations.
