Dubbed Mitaka Data Center, the facility is designed to meet the demand for IIJ customers seeking dedicated racks to house servers and network equipments in order to connect servers provided as part of IIJ’s cloud service, IIJ GIO, and the client’s network.

Japan Energy Shortage Could Affect Data Center Uptime in Summer

April 8, 2011 — – Data centers in the Tokyo-area have so far managed to endure the energy crisis following last month’s massive earthquake and tsunami, but the lack of fuel supply due to the shutting down of nuclear reactors could prove to be taxing during the high demand period of the summer, according to a report by Datacenter Dynamics.

Equinix says Japanese Government Will Prioritize Power for Data Centers

March 15, 2011 — Data center operator Equinix announced on Tuesday that its two data centers in Tokyo, TY1 and TY2, are operating under normal conditions, following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan last Friday. The 8.9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami has reportedly affected some data centers in the region. NTT Communications appeared to have lost its IP-VPN connection in the Tohoku region, which subsequently affected some of its services.
