HostExploit’s Top “Bad Host” Oversee Improves Standing in Q4 Report

(WEB HOS T INDUSTRY REVIEW) — HostExploit , an organization devoted to publishing data on the involvement of Hosting Providers (willing or unknowingly) in cybercrime, issued its Top 50 Bad Hosts and Networks report for Q4 2011 on Tuesday, showing, among other things that Oversee.net, which topped the rankings in its Q3 report had improved its standing through a concerted effort at “responsible hosting.” The 30-page report, which is available as a free PDF download from the HostExploit site , provides an overall list of the top 50 hosts according to “badness,” weighted by allocated address space, as a means of spotting security malpractice among top hosting providers. Factors consider include spam, exploit servers, phishing activity, command and control servers, infected websites and activity from specific botnets.
